BenQ Releases EW164B
External USB 2.0 DVD ReWriter
Wednesday, August 24, 2005
BenQ recently released the EW164B external DVD
ReWriter aimed at providing customers with reliable
optical writing and hassle-free storage functions.
Equipped with BenQ's proprietary SolidBurn Technology,
the EW164B DVD ReWriter enables a faster burning
speed while maintaining an excellent burning
quality. With SolidBurn, the EW164B is able
to apply its own Self-Learning Writing Strategy
algorithm to allow unknown DVD±R media to be
written with increased quality. So there is
no need for users to update the media support
list in their DVD drive as the drive keeps itself
up-to-date and ensures best writing quality
on all DVD±R media. Better yet, SolidBurn supports
the Over-Speed Burning that allows you to burn
a 4x or 8x DVD±R disc at 8x or higher speeds.
Users can choose to activate or deactivate the
SolidBurn Technology and Over Speed Burning
feature through the QSuite 2.0 application interface.
BenQ QSuite 2.0 offers four built-in functions:
Book Type Management, QScan, Test Write, WOPC
enable / disable. In addition, the QSuite 2.0
allows user to simulate writing on DVD+R / +RW
/ +R DL media. The software is available for
downloading at BenQ's Download Center
The EW164B DVD ReWriter supports both DVD+R
and DVD-R Double Layer recording at 8x and 4x
respectively, and features a USB2.0 interface
for easy plug and play.
The drive will be launched first in the Taiwan
market later this month at an attractive retail
price of US$118.
